Bob MacKendrick and the Del Rays are a rock'n'roll band from Toronto. They play anthemic heartland rock influenced by fifties pop, sixties soul and seventies punk.
Hailing from Prince Edward Island, MacKendrick moved to Toronto in 2014 to pursue music. Shortly after his arrival, he began working with producer Nyles Miszczyk (Hollerado, Tokyo Police Club) at Royal Mountain Studios on a series of recordings. Knowing that a band was needed to bring the songs to life on stage MacKendrick brought in Ian Borak on drums, Mitch Thomson on bass and fellow islander Todd Waite on guitar. The band took the name the Del Rays from the watering hole next to Royal Mountain Studios where MacKendrick and Miszczyk would often head after recording sessions.
On March 8, 2016 they made their live debut at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern and were swiftly invited back for another performance just one month later. The band is currently working on new material
for a planned release in late 2017.
